I just registered for my very first Romance Writer's of America National Conference!

 

Since California is a hop, skip, and a jump away from where I live, I'll be loading up my car and driving to breezy San Diego this July. (Who wouldn't want to escape the brutally hot weather in Arizona that time of year!)

 

Besides offering incredible craft workshops and revered guest speakers, RWA conferences are also opportunities for romance writers to connect with their wonderful readers. I will be signing at the big Literacy Autography Event on Wednesday, July 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Proceeds for anyone purchasing a book will go to various literacy awareness charities.

 Meanwhile, I just sent off two new manuscripts to my fabulous literary agent. The first book is a sultry historical romance that will kick off a new series for me. The other is a chilling psychological thriller in the vein of The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl. This one was written under the pen name Gwen London.

AUTUMN IS UPON US!

 

 

Wait a minute..where did October go! Time flies, but that's okay. Fall is my favorite season by far. In Arizona, it means we can wave goodbye to three digit temperatures (at least 'til April or May!!) Fall also means sweater weather and reading romance with a pumpkin-spiced latte by our side. 

 

It's been a rough start of the school year for me. My eldest daughter went off to college (takes a moment to sniffle) and a few health scares have plagued me and my family, but I'm always looking onward and upward.

Happy Summer, everyone!

 

Wow! Now that the sizzling June sun is upon us, I wonder, what DIDN'T happen in May?

 

My daughters graduated from high school and middle school, I got into a car accident -- was rear-ended on the freeway, but I'm okay -- and I went to the Romantic Times Convention in Dallas! It was so rewarding to meet some of my readers and to chat with bloggers who review my books. It was also fun to meet other Kensington authors like Sally MacKenzie (photo 1), Joanna Shupe (photo 2), and Ella Quinn and Sabine Priestley (photo 3) at the Kensington Readers' Party.

Margaritas flowed, an obscene amount of candy was consumed, and books were handed out.

All in all, it was a great time!

Where will the convention be next year? Vegas, baby!
